Introducing And Defining A Highly Advanced New Field

About Me

David D. Cicia, Ed.D.

I have been exploring and researching this new field seriously for over 35 years. In 1987 I received a doctorate in education (Ed.D.) from the University of Massachuesetts, Amherst for this work. I received a B.A. from St. John's College, Annapolis, MD. in 1970 for studies in the classics and the "Great Books." I am also a graduate of the Defense Language Institute, Monterey, Ca.

My exploration into experiential transformation practices has been both experiential and academic, so I have a very sound background in all aspects of the field. In fact, to my knowledge, I am the first one to identify this as a clearly defined field unto itself. For the most part the commonalities between these practices have not yet been seen.

I was able to see these commonalities, and thereby clearly define this new field, because I saw them within the context of aiming at developing a new personal growth method that utilized these common elements as a unified integral practice.

This first took place as an effort to define the essential factors of a practice of deep self-realization based on deep inwardly focused Socratic Dialogue. This is what I wrote my doctoral dissertation on.

This work has now come to fruition in an extensive, advanced personal transformation practice that utilizes all the principles of this new field in their fullest way, and in depth. I call this practice Free-Beingness Realization.

My other studies that helped me in formulating this have been varied. I have certificates in basic and advanced Polarity Therapy and in Body-Mind Centering. I have taken many trainings and workshops in Feldenkrais and Trager bodywork. I have taught Transcendental Meditation and a class on writing from bodily experiencing (i.e. Focusing) at the Universtiy Of Massachusetts.

I have much personal experience in the whole range of the experiential transformation practices I describe here on this website and in my webguide at Squidoo. I have investigated these deeply both in experience and in understanding - with the aim of creating a new level of method in this field. This meant going deeply into my own self-experiencing as well as pondering the meaning of the methods and experiences. My research has been deeply personal and not just academic or observational. I personally know the territory intimately - I have gone through it myself.

So, I believe my background well qualifies me to define and introduce this new field, and to offer one of the most advanced practices in the field. I hope what I present in this and my other websites is beneficial and enlightening to you.
